Yacht StarShip Testimonials |
||||
Dear Mr. Manthey, On March 13, 2010, I had my daughter Erika's wedding reception on the Yacht Star Ship. From the very first meeting with your sales associate, Jill Manthey, and then with your wedding planner, Eric Abril, the entire Yacht Star Ship reception was a wonderful experience! The food was magnificent! My compliments to the chef. The wait and bar staff was superb! Courteous, efficient, and most helpful in all aspects that I could imagine. From the time the dance floor opened, there was never a dull moment...which only means the DJ was terrific!!!I cannot say enough about your entire staff....EVERYONE did an exceptional job and they should all be commended! Not one of our guests had a complaint....other than it ended too soon!!! Visann Ms. Wagner, On behalf of the planning committee, I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for your wonderful service and hospitality on April 19th. Our event on the brunch cruise was a total success and we have you and your staff to thank for it. Your flexible and courteous staff must be commended. I really appreciate all the efforts you put into making our time on your Yacht a memorable one. Once again thank you and I wish you all continued success. Sincerely, Christiana
Susan- Today was our second cruise on the Yacht Starship on Easter Sunday. We so enjoyed our first cruise that this time we brought 10 of our dearest friends with us. The food is always exceptional, but today was highlighted by your exceedingly friendly interaction with us along with the outstanding service we received from our waitress, Deenah. You all made our cruise a very special Easter activity and I have been asked by my group to do this again next year. Perhaps we will have 3 tables in 2010. Regards, Cliff & Susanne Buck

hi my husband and i got married on march 20th and started our honeymoon on your ship. i just wanted to take a minute and tell you what a magical time we had. the crew treated us like queens and kings, the were so friendly . The food just melted in your mouth. it was the best we have ever had. we will be coming back and we have already told alot of people about you guys and still have many more to tell. words just cant explain how wonderful of a time we had. i thank you from the bottom of our hearts. thank you for making my wedding night unforgetable....
Hello Eric and Susan,
Just wanted to drop a line and tell you how much we appreciate your staff and your assistance in making our daughter's sweet 16 birthday party such a memorable one. From day one of contacting you until the actual day of the party, everyone was so helpful and enjoyable to work with. The food was absolutely amazing! The ship was clean and all the staff, including the Captain, were very courteous and accommodating AT ALL TIMES. Having the private dressing room was a plus! It really came in handy. I was a nervous wreck up to the point when I boarded the ship (wanting everything to be perfect) and your staff just took over. I was relieved not only of my duties but also of my stress. It was perfect! I was able to actually enjoy myself....just like the guest!! :0) I thought Kelsey just wanted a party on a ship to see the sunset on the water....but there was so much more I hadn't considered. The ship was the perfect place to host a party because of it's many varieties of atmosphere. Fine dining on the first deck, dance party on the second deck to include colored lights and a great DJ, and for those who wanted a retreat from the party scene, there was the third deck of beautiful weather, cool breeze, the sights of Tampa Bay at night and pure serenity. You and your staff are to be commended for such a professional and pleasant experience. We will always remember this wonderful experience and will be sure to recommend your ship to all our friends. Thank you, once again, for such a great experience and memories. Sincerely, Connie
Hi Matthew, This is a belated but sincere thanks for allowing us to experience the StarShip Yacht on 9/15/08. We had a nice time and our staff was impressed by the food and the service. They thought our experience on the StarShip was better than that of your competitors. It is nice to have another option for our guests when they're visiting Boston. We wish you much success and thank you again for your hospitality.
Hi Donna, Simply…WOW!!! I cannot thank you enough for your kindness; you truly took care of us and your generosity was completely unnecessary but certainly appreciated. We all had a wonderful time and the food was absolutely spectacular!!! I wish I had ordered more shrimp! Just wonderful!!! It truly was so great and everything from the crew to the team of servers, each individual was so nice. Ashley was our server and she was fantastic! Thank you so very much Donna! I really do appreciate your graciousness and for a wonderful night. Please know that you guys will be on top of my list of offering Yacht Starship to clients/friends/colleagues!!! Thank you again!
Hi Jill and Ashley, I wanted to thank you for a wonderful party. Our employees enjoyed themselves tremendously. The food was great and the service was incredible, all of the servers were very nice. Omar was great to work with; he took extremely good care of us. You guys should be proud to have such an efficiently pleasant crew. Please let them all know that we appreciated them taking such good care of us. Pamela L. Valenti
Donna & Matthew, Please accept my sincere gratitude for having me and my family as your guests on the Sunday Brunch Cruise. The food was spectacular and the ambiance was perfect. It's not very often that we get 4 boys to agree on anything let alone be on a boat for several hours without Gameboy's and Playstations. They have not stopped talking about being with the captain and driving the boat in the Harbor. This experience will never be forgotten... Special note of recognition to Jaime or server who was outstanding. Personable and friendly, he was the best! My 8 year old son's 3rd grade teacher happened to be on the vessel and she was celebrating her 40th birthday. Jaime had a plate painted with a big Happy Birthday and allowed my son to present it to her with dessert. This single action may get my son's desk moved from next to the teacher to the back of the class! "Way to go Jaime" The staff was courteous and friendly and gets 2 thumbs up! I will not have any trepidation in recommending your vessel to our clients as the need arises. You hit a home run in my book and I thank you. Please share my comments with your staff. I wish the Yacht Starship a safe and pleasant trip back to Florida and see you next year upon your return to Boston for the 2009 season. My best, John
Matthew, It [the cruise] was so wonderful and the food was amazing. I am not a huge desert fan, but the cheese cake was simply amazing. It was so different then the other boats I have been on, the food was not only edible, but amazing! I have family coming in towards the middle of the month and will insist that they take the cruise, it is something that can’t be missed when visiting Boston. And the free parking was perfect!
Hi Jill: Many thanks for an exceptional cruise experience. Our Annual Meeting will not take us to Boston within the near future; however, if we are in Boston again, we would definitely love to cruise again… The entire process was seamless and the service from beginning to end was wonderful. Our staff have rated it the best group experience. It was a wonderful way to take advantage of the unique setting of Boston…Again, many thanks for a wonderful event! Service from Crew: Every staff person on board was courteous and friendly. Quality of Food: We received many comments about the surprisingly good quality of the food; many participants had expected lackluster food and were pleasantly surprised. Entertainment: Staff really enjoyed the DJ; and appreciated being able to explore the yacht on their own. Kareem D. Jenkins
Sunlight cascades across Boston Harbor as the Yacht StarShip gently cuts through the water. Not only is this two and a half hour excursion relaxing, it’s the perfect way to gain a unique perspective on one of America’s most beautiful and historic cities. The StarShip is the latest entry into Boston’s brunch, lunch and dinner dining cruise competition. According to the press release, the $8 million, 180 ft. super ship is the first AAA Three Diamond rated dining yacht. This is especially important in light of the fact that it is docked at the corner of Summer St. and Drydock Avenue adjacent to the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in the South Boston Seaport District, which bodes well for revitalizing the primarily industrial area. Passengers benefit by being offered complimentary parking in a structure that is less than a block away. In Boston where public parking is expensive, this is a real perk. There is also valet parking directly in front of the ship. Our group, six in all, arrived at the StarShip at 6:30 p.m. on a slightly humid, but pleasant Friday in July. We were greeted by Jonathan the sharpshooter who snapped a terrific picture of us before we checked in and boarded. Donna Wolfe, whose title of Business Development Boston greeted us effusively, explaining as we climbed the gangway in our summer finery that the tide determines entry. High tide, down below - low tide, where we were boarding. There are three decks: the 3500 sq. ft. Main Deck with dining areas, a bar and a bow lookout, the 3,300 sq. ft., Second Deck with more dining and bar area, and the 3,300 Sq. ft. partially covered Top Deck. Spacious and beautifully appointed with white linen table cloths, napkins and silverware the tone was set for a comfortable, elegant adventure. Seated on the main deck in the area designated as Starlight 1 service was immediate. We ordered drinks and enjoyed unobstructed panoramic views of the harbor. We selected a bottle of wine for the table. A complimentary starter of wild mushrooms and haricot vert wrapped in philo dough with a balsamic reduction drizzled over the top proved tasty and delicious. Jim Hollister, a Massachusetts native, noted, “One difference (between this and other ships) you notice right away is the scale of the dining room. They’ve created a much more intimate dining area where we’re sitting – which looks to seat maybe fifty or sixty people and that’s it. And there’re several of these on the ship as opposed to the big ballroom, cavernous dining room.” His observation is what makes the Yacht StarShip especially conducive to romantic celebrations, business dinners, family get-togethers, and weddings. There’s nothing more refreshing than gently cruising a waterway, drink in hand; sailboats gliding past an ever-changing backdrop. We left the dock promptly at 7 p.m., and twenty minutes later we had sailed past the industrial docks and into open water. It was pointed out that there are 27 Boston islands that are part of the National Park system. Warm, fresh rolls and butter arrived along with a wine list and menus. To begin, some of us enjoyed the clam chowder with bacon, and the asparagus salad. Chef Paul Finocchi stopped at our table to find out how we were enjoying our respective entrées. Starting in Tampa, he’s been with the cruise company for four years. He explained that 90% of the food is prepared onboard. Baking is the tricky part. I had the braised lamb shank, and as promised it did fall off the bone. It was served on a tasty bed of couscous. The grilled salmon was moist and served atop polenta, and the roast chicken was served with risotto and green beans. We complimented chef Finocchi on his menu, which he explained changes four times a year. The windows wraparound, providing sweeping views of UMass (University of Massachusetts, Boston) next to the JFK Library, and the famous painted gas tank. A little further along we cruised past Logan Airport. At the Tobin Bridge the StarShip turned around revealing the U.S.S. Constitution, the oldest ship in the U.S. Navy. The sun set as coffee and dessert were served. There was a wicked Green Tea Crème Brulee, flourless chocolate cake, a lemon tart with fresh blueberries, and Turtle cheesecake. Twinkling lights played against the water making the skyline from Boston’s financial district even more dazzling. Comfortably full we headed upstairs, passing through the top dining room with more intimate table arrangements. Up on the Promenade deck the sea air was exhilarating. Couples danced, enjoyed another drink, and reminisced as they listened to “Unforgettable”. The geriatric set could revel in a walk down memory lane while younger diners wanted to tell the dj to bring us into the 21st century. In the midst of our reverie thunder sounded and raindrops began falling on our heads. We ducked beneath the covered top and enjoyed an intense ten-minute downpour. The Yacht StarShip is a wonderful experience for locals as well as visitors who want to appreciate the many facets of Boston from a unique perspective. And, since the StarShip is new to the city they are offering specials such as 2 for 1 tickets. That’s a bargain for a wonderful cruise along with delicious food and drink. That, along with complimentary parking make lunch, brunch or dinner very affordable. For more information, and reservations go to: www.YachtStarShip.com or call 877-744-7999. Prices for the dinner cruise range from $99.95 for adults and $59.95 for children. Lunch and brunch prices are $59.95 for adults and $41.95 for children. — Feature by Linda Lane, Jetsetters Magazine Las Vegas Correspondent; photos by Linda and courtesy of Yacht StarShip.
Hi Jill:
Every thing went very well last night. The ship is beautiful! Every one at C&M had a terrific time and would love to go again. So we may book another one next year. Dina and her wait staff did a tremendous job. I was very impressed. The Captain was very friendly as my husband and I met him when Dina offered to bring us to the bridge. A GREAT TIME had by all! They are all raving about it this AM!

At some point, everyone’s attended the kind of gathering where food figures prominently, but isn’t really the focus (and, consequently, isn’t very good). I’m talking wedding receptions, dinner theaters, transatlantic flights—the kind of “chicken or beef?” food service that prompts people like me to pre-eat in anticipation of mushy pasta and chewy steak. It was with some hesitation, then, that I boarded the YachtStarship in South Boston last Friday night for a two-hour trip around Boston harbor. A new addition to Boston’s dinner-cruise lineup (the other players being Odyssey and Spirit), the ship’s press release promised grand skyline views, dancing on the deck, and delectable, upscale cuisine. I believed #1 and #2. But it was, in fact, fun. A passing shower graced the harbor with an impressive rainbow, and we were free to wander the various decks. The yacht’s interior is neither stinky nor claustrophobic—two all-too-common characteristics of harbor cruises—and, while it won’t be winning any design awards, it’s pretty darn nice inside. I could actually see hosting a rehearsal dinner or summer event on this thing. Huh. As for the food, while I’ll admit to relaxing my landlubbing standards at sea, dinner was decent. A braised lamb entrée was appropriately tender; my roast chicken salty, but moist. Flash-fried calamari were crisp, if predictable; and dessert—a green tea crème brulee—offered a light, sweet finish. Since dinner cruising certainly falls into that category of “expect the worst,” I’d call that a home run. My dining companion and I agreed we’d go again, the scenery (and well-stocked bar) offering reason enough to deport. And at the end of the day, while good food is nice, it’s not really the point, is it? -Donna Garlough Boston Magazine 6/25/08
Hi Jill, I have been meaning to email you since Tuesday to let you know what a FABULOUS time we had on the Starship last Monday night. I would like to specially thank Susan and Douglas who worked so hard to make sure everything went perfect- they did an excellent job!! Thank you again for working with us to make this a great event. We look forward to possibly doing more business with the Starship in the future! I hope you have a great rest of the week! KB Homes June 16, 2008 Jill: Everything was great! Your staff was friendly and efficient, the food was good, and we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. Usually, when we have events like this there are so many details to attend to that I don’t often get to actually enjoy the event. This one allowed me the opportunity to feel relaxed and stress-free thanks to your wonderful staff. Given the opportunity we will consider booking again! Thanks for everything. Dear Dara,
My family went on the February 29,2008 dinner cruise on the Yacht Starship II. WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME!!!! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!! We had a party of 15 and this was part of our Christmas gift to everyone. We made a day trip to Clearwater from Ocala to check out local hotels and we had planned on going on the Starlight dinner cruise. When we arrived at the dock we spoke with the lady at the Star light booth and she wasn't very helpful. We had a party of 15 and my wife and my parents (all in their 80s) would be with us. We had a couple of special needs. We saw your booth and spoke with Tracy Manthey. He was very pleasant and accommodating to our needs. He even gave us his cell phone number in case we had any other questions. He won us over with his service and we are so glad he did. The ship looked new and very clean and rur server Shellie was just as helpful and the meals far exceeded our expectations. Everything was Delicious. We were treated as if we were the owners of your yacht and the Captain gave my two grandsons a tour of the bridge. We had the time of our lives.
Thank You for such a perfect evening.

I want to thank you both for all you did for my team and the group outing last evening. It was an OUTSTANDING visit. I cannot tell you enough how much everyone enjoyed every aspect of the dinner. The food was excellent, the social time was outstanding, and the staff was pleasant and quick to take care of any request. I just cannot say enough. Word of mouth is a powerful tool. I will be telling many about our outing and I’m sure you may have other Waste Management business. Several that live locally have already begun to plan on taking their wife and family on another dinner. Thank you again for a job well done. I’m sure I will see you all again. Waste Management Date of Cruise: 3/6/08
Hey Troy, This email is extremely overdue, for I have said for the last 7 months that I would be sending a letter to recognize a few staff members at Yacht Starship, however after last week’s program, I now feel I need to give KUDOS to the entire staff at Yacht Starship! First and foremost, I would like to recognize Omar Crespo. He is a huge asset to Yacht Starship. He goes above and beyond every time I walk on the yacht with prospective clients. Yes, the yacht tends to sell itself, however I honestly believe that Omar closes the deal. In addition to the service we receive during our site cruises, he has always followed through with the actual event itself. Making every guest that walks onboard feel important and well taken care of!!! In addition to Omar, I would like to recognize the entire staff – Scott Smith in sales, reservations and all departments on-board. Everyone is always very professional, extremely accommodating and myself and the entire Eventions of Florida staff always looks forward to producing our clients’ events on Yacht Starship. We know that our company and our clients are always in good hands! We thank you for making their experience one in a million and making Eventions of Florida shine as well!!! We truly value the partnership that we have built with Yacht Starship and look forward to working with the entire staff again in the near future!! Keep up the good work!!!!! All the best, Ali Brown
To Troy, Eric, Ashley, Omar and crew members
Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the food. The dinner room was excellent and very conducive for conversations. The entertainment on the top deck was also a nice option for those who wanted to get a little exercise. Your entire staff did an outstanding job by being very accommodating and professional. All of our guests, most from out of town, expressed an overall very good experience aboard the Starship. Thanks to the whole Starship team for making our event a memorable experience and a complete success. Kinder Morgan
Hi Jill, Thank you and everyone at StarShip for the wonderful night. The committee received many compliments on what a great venue this was. I must say this was one of our best year end parties to date, and will make it hard for next year's party committee to top. Please thank the Chef for the "5 STAR" Quality meal, in my book it is Tampa's Best! I will get together with Kim and fill out the post-cruise evaluation form and return to you. Thanks again. Sincerely,
Jill, Attached is the completed survey. The word about how much fun that we are having must be getting out, our event gets larger every year. Your staff was very professional and eager to ensure that our needs where met, and that everyone was having a good time. They are an awesome team. Thank you for donating the two Dinner Cruise tickets for our door raffle. I only wish that my wife and I had won them. Please pencil us in for another event for December 2008. Rich Davis
Dear Yacht Starship Team, Thank you so much for the amazing evening the week before last. I am hearing nothing but rave reviews of the cruise and the five-star service provided by all your staff members. You guys did a great job and I will not hesitate to bring you my other event clients when the opportunity arises. Complements to all on a job well done. Happy Holidays,
Hello Scott, I was just about to send an email to you. Cindy Bonet 11/27/07 Troy – Just wanted to THANK YOU for letting us use your beautiful ship for our Association for Corporate Growth’s Florida Capital Connection. The weather was perfect (I know we can’t control that but since it was awesome let’s take credit for it!), your staff was incredible and the food was great. Not to say that this particular group is a “tough crowd to impress” but they are! In light of that I was so pleased to have heard so many nice comments about the evening, your staff and the ship. One investment banker from Baltimore told me that he attends these types of events all over the country and he said that this event was the BEST HE HAD EVER ATTENDED. Another event attendee told me that he was amazed by your staff – he said that they were so friendly, courteous and professional. Another commented that he couldn’t get over how impressive it was to have so many of your staff standing on the dock to thank everyone by name for coming. One of the attorneys told me that initially he wasn’t sure he wanted to get “stuck” on a boat all evening but he said he was one of the last to leave after the ship docked! All in all it was a great evening. And our conference the next day also went very well. We are excited that so many people got to see our beautiful city in such a positive and impressive way. Thank you so much for helping us set the tone for the conference and get it started in such a great way.
Please thank your lovely staff on our behalf – they did us proud, as they say! Penny ACG Financial
Hi Jill,
Ashley Just a short note to tell you how very much J. P. Griffin, Inc. and Griffin Service Corporation enjoyed our Christmas Party aboard the Yacht Starship on December 1st. Everything, I mean, Everything was just perfect. You and your staff did an outstanding job. Joelene
Dear Mr. Abril, I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to the Yacht Starship and all of the employees. From my first meeting with you to all the crew and right down to the receptionist, my experience was incredible. I have to extend a special thank you to Omar, and our 2 servers, Omar was helpful, attentive and fun, the food was fabulous and the service was excellent. Even though we were a small group I felt I was treated like the CEO of a fortune 500 company. Everyone was completely satisfied and we are discussing using the cruise for our annual holiday luncheon. Again Thank You so much for making Tanja's retirement party truly an experience to remember. Sincerely, Gregory Colangelo
Hi Ashley- State Farm
Omar, I wanted to reach out to you and your entire staff to say “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” for a wonderful evening this past Wed. on the Starship!! Our customers are still talking about what a memorable event this was. As a group, we have hosted many events like this for our customers, but this one by far, was the best event we have sponsored yet---agreed to by all of us in the Exchange Group, as well as all of our customers that joined us for the evening’s fun events. As first we thought that perhaps the event wasn’t long enough . . . but isn’t that true with anything that is so enjoyable . . . you just don’t want it to end. It definitely left our customers with the right impression. If future business events bring us to Tampa again, we will definitely reach out to you to host another fabulous event like this one for us again . . . a million thanks for a most memorable evening!! Icelandic USA
Nicole - Just wanted to send some kudos I got this morning. Sounds like a great event and everyone was happy. I knew I could trust Starship to come through for us. Glad I pitched it to our Marketing team! Thanks again for making this happen! And, please let me know if you have any other cool ideas or offerings in the future!

8/8/2007 Hi Nicole, Thanks so much for the follow up to our VERY successful event on the Star Ship – the dinner, drinks and band were a huge hit with our group. Even though the weather was awful, we still managed to have a fantastic time. The staff on the Star Ship received MANY compliments from our guests. They were very courteous, professional and helpful to all of the people Sterling invited on board. For that, I cannot thank you enough. The food was delicious and everyone had such a good time with the band. I would definitely host another event with the Star Ship and plan to recommend to any and everyone I know. From start to finish, the experience was phenomenal. J Thank you so very much for everything!!!
